This is Ozan Balcik's own home. Ozan is the architect behind About Place Architecture + Design, and he designed a new rear extension, new upper floors and a new roof for the house. We are building it to his drawings.
Our crew carried out the demolition, the temporary propping and all the structural steel, from the beams and columns downstairs to the ridge beam in the roof. We built the extension and the new top floor, removed the old roof completely and built a new roof with a dormer, and built a new party wall in the attic. Wherever we opened up the house, we rebuilt and repaired the brickwork.
We are waterproofing the new roofs, and we made the main roof watertight to protect the structure below. The main roof is being finished with solar slates by a specialist installer, on the roof structure we built for them. Brick restoration and repointing of the existing facades is by Rigney Restoration.
The design image shows About Place's scheme for the finished house. The photographs follow the work from the first steel going in to the new upper floors and roofs taking shape.
